7.1 audio on the Virtual Pinball cabinet

We just finished the Virtual Pinball series and we keep learning about new features and techniques to enhance our virtual pinball cabinet. The Next upgrade, which we should have done in the 1st place is a 7.1 audio system. Cab users all over are raving about how much of a difference the 7.1 makes. Thanks to DJRobX, the 7.1 surround sound is now implemented in VPX and is now back compatible

Here’s the excellent thread about the subject on VPuniverse: http://vpuniverse.com/forums/topic/3232-new-vpx-feature-surround-sound-output/page/4/

UMPA on VPuniverse says: Just wanted to report that even though I have full DOF I added the exciters and as someone has said before this table takes it to an all new level of immersive play! Thank you!

People are asking if you can use the 7.1 as a replacement for DOF? The answer is NO. You can use the 7.1 as an enhancement of the audio to hear the ball rolling etc.. but it will not replace the shaking and providing the lighting effects. Here is an article about the Poor man’s DOF https://www.aussiearcade.com/showthread.php/82642-The-Poor-Man-s-DOF-(Tactile-Feedback)

RustyCardores provided a diagram of a 7.1 setup on a cab.
